A group of Health Sciences students from Douglas College got a unique chance to experience what it's like to be part of a multi-agency response to a serious emergency.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing students took part in a training simulation at the Justice Institute of British Columbia campus in New Westminster on October 17.

Working as part of a public safety team, the Douglas students treated actors who posed as victims suffering from a range of injuries that resulted from a shooting incident scenario.

The training simulation, organized by the Provincial Health Services Authority Mobile Medical Unit, also involved paramedic and law enforcement students from the Justice Institute and resident physicians from UBC.
