Douglas students set educational goals for new school year

Douglas College has been buzzing with activity as students settle in for a new school year. Here’s what some of them had to say about what they’re studying and their educational goals.

Juliet D.

Commerce and Business Administration
“Well I’ve always been interested in business in terms of economics and good decision making in the workplace. I also want to be trained to deal with conflict management and problem solving.”

Andrew D.

Psychiatric Nursing
“I’m going into psychiatric nursing. I’m just doing my prerequisites right now for it. I’ll apply for it probably in springtime. This school has that program, so that’s why I’m here.”

“It’s always just been something that I enjoyed—psychology and helping people with mental illnesses.”

Sahar A.

Medical Office Assistant
“I heard that they have a really good medical office program here. Better than other schools, actually, I heard from a few friends, so that’s how I decided to come here.”

Brody W.

Computing Science and Information Systems
"It’s an expanding field, I guess. There’s lots of potential for opportunity and particularly something that I can take advantage of on my own time, so to speak. There’s a lot of potential to really practice and get experience by yourself."
