The celebration includes remarks from His Excellency Steven Point, the Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia, and Chief Rhonda Larrabee of the QayQayt Nation, as well as a photo display covering the building of the Gathering Place from start to finish. You’ll also be treated to ancient and contemporary songs and dances by the Git Hayetsk Dancers and a performance by a College-based student powwow dance group.
Traditional Aboriginal treats and tours of the Gathering Place will be available after the official opening – don’t miss this chance to see the newly commissioned artwork showcasing the culture of the Aboriginal peoples.
Hope to see you there! If you have any questions please contact Dave Seaweed, Aboriginal Student Services Coordinator, at 604 527 5565.
