Douglas College Music students win awards

Music students Dasha Chalubeyeva (r), Christian Bideau (seated), Andy Stevens (3rd from left) and Tim Zacharias won music awards from Long & McQuade, presented by Christina Hicks (2nd from left), Assistant Manager of Eduction for B.C., Long & McQuade. On the far left is Joy Ollen, Coordinator of the Douglas College Music Department.
Music to their ears: Yesterday four Music students were awarded $250 gift cards by Long & McQuade for their dedication, discipline and passion for learning. The winners were Dasha Chalubeyeva, violinist and student in the Music Technology Certificate Program; second-year University Transfer students Christian Bideau (pianist) and Andy Stevens (guitarist); and Tim Zacharias, a first-year University Transfer guitar student.

"We have a lot of excellent students in our programs this year, so narrowing it down to four was tricky," says Joy Ollen, Coordinator of the Music Department. "In the end, we selected four students who have been in our music programs for more than one year, who have a track record of musical and academic excellence, and who bring a positive attitude to their studies and enhance our community here in the Music Department."
