Laugh it up for a good cause

Seattle comedian Brad Upton headlines at the Uganda Project
fundraiser February 24.
You know that laughing makes you feel good, but did you know it can also help you do good in the world?

On that note, the College's ongoing Uganda Project is holding a fundraiser at Laffline's Comedy Club February 24 to help send seven Douglas students to Uganda, where they will work in hospitals, libraries and aid centres during a 10-week stint.

Headlining the show is Brad Upton, a Seattle comic and past winner of the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. The Seattle Times describe Upton as having "mastered the nearly impossible task of appealing to people from the ages of 18 to 80."

Pizza and pasta will be available to those who come hungry; you'll also have the chance to win a Canucks jersey.

When: Thursday, February 24, door 7pm; show 8pm
Where: Laffline's Comedy Club, 26 Fourth St., New Westminster
Tickets: $10 from the Community Social Service Worker program office, Room 2600, New Westminster Campus, through Lorna Fulsom, one of the students going to Uganda, or at the door (the students going to Uganda will be selling them in line). You can book a table through Laffline's.
