wireless printing from Laptops, there are never enough computers to just print off that one assignment or set of notes.
ReplyDeletegrrrrr, internet is so slow is some part of college that I just wanna smash my laptop on my own head
ReplyDeleteI'd like to print wirelessly from my laptop in the library.
ReplyDeletewireless network is spotty at best. Slow connection speeds and varying signal strength in the lower cafeteria area and gymnasium are frustrating.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the Macs??? Not in the library, not in the labs, there are none. If I had known this when I applied, I would have gone elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments!
I will forward the concerns about the wireless network in the lower cafeteria and gym to Technology Services. If there are other specific areas that need to be looked at, please let me know.
The College has installed PC's deliberately. Mac's are a relatively small percentage of the computers sold globally. Also, PC's are slightly less expensive, so we have been able to purchase more computers and because they operate on the same operating system, it is easier to set up and maintain them. Up until now, the assumption has been that it has been better to have more computers than providing fewer computers, but providing a choice between types. Perhaps this assumption is no longer valid or perhaps we should focus on allowing people to use their own devices be they PC or Mac.
I appreciate the desire for wireless printing. It does pose certain technical challenges (we wouldn't want people to pay for printing they don't receive), so we will need to investigate how it might work.
