Toonie Tuesday collects $1,261 in two hours

by Mike Dominelli,
Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Semester 6 Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students (BSN) would like to thank everyone who donated money on Toonie Tuesday on February 2 at both Douglas College campuses.

We are pleased to announce that we collected $1261.12 in two hours with your
help, which the Federal government will be matching. The donations collected have been sent to the Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund. The faculty member from the BSN program who helped us organize this was Roberta Mercier.

Thank you all once again for your donations!

Congratulations to the semester six BSN Nursing students and their faculty member Roberta Mercier! Your caring commitment to act in order to make a difference in the lives of a very vulnerable population is evident and much appreciated by the college community. I wore my ribbons with pride which was a nice touch also.

The Douglas Students' Union will also be matching $500 of the Toonie fundraising. The donation will be along with the other match funds to The Humanitarian Coalition.

Thank You Priscilla for your post and clarification regarding the DSU matching $500 of our Toonie Tuesday Fundraiser. We received this information after my original posting and were thrilled to find out the DSU was doing this.
